I'm gonna give Jeff Long a pass on this one. He did the right thing firing Petunia, but he didn't have much choice on the head coach hire. I agree with CP that he should have hired a big time, seasoned, proven coach, but at the time he had to make the hire, there wasn't much available. However, I don't think we should stop at firing John L. Smith, we ought go ahead and fire the offensive coordinator and the guy who is pretending to be a defensive coordinator! Clean house and start over. With this bunch I'm hoping for a .500 season, but I'm not sure!!! Can we get our $750,000 back??? Just my :twocents

Before the start of the season I thought they had more talent than last year, maybe they do, it's just being mis-coached? Tyler had something to say about the game:

I guess if the coach ain't got the answer, you look to the QB. They need to rebuild the staff from the ground up. Everybody has lost faith in the staff we have now, and with a season headed where this one is, it can only get worse.

All I know is that we went from a national champion type team to one that sucks!!!! Makes ya want to be a Bama fan. Our AD sucks, our coaches suck, and our players deserve MUCH better for their loyalty to this program!!!! This whole thing is BS!!! Our future recruiting will suffer the most, no matter the coach. It's embarrassing.

Yup Bill..I agree Tell em how you feel, LOL I dont believe for one second the AD could'nt find something better than a no-name special team goober with 20 million to throw around. It's sad... I saw this coming from a mile away. The AD could have hired me or you or at least half our AR CDC member's on this board for 100K and got better results than this. It's simple when you lose your big name coach... go find another Big Name coach that can think with the right head on and off the field and never allow the words Interim Coach be uttered from ur AD's mouth. The word's Interim Coach mean's loss'es, no recruits, and a long road ahead. 'll never root for BAMA tho...That's where I got to draw the line. LOL

Big river you got that right, I guess we still have the basketball program to look forward to. The football program has gone down the drain, starting with the athletic director, then the coach, and the remaining staff, I think that a complete change needs to be made from the athletic director down, our players deserve better. They are not the problem they are just mislead. The players need a leader, and not a 750,000 dollar leader, we need a potential million dollar coach. One that is worth his salt.

The way I look at it, we've got $3.6 million to spend so we ought to be able to attract a real coach with that!!! That's what we were paying Petunia, if I'm not mistaken. We need to go after a sho-nuff coach starting the last day of the season. May have to wait until after the bowl games as the real coaches will be in bowls!!!
