    Default fuel hose

Anyone that has a gray fuel hose from tank to motor needs to replace it with black. Ethanol eats up the inner lining and will clog your fuel system causing engine damage.

You sure you don't have that backwards? I thought the gray hose replaced the black. I just went to a gray hose last year because it is suppose to be ethonal resistant.

I am sure about Mercury gray hose . Don't know about other brands. Cut about an inch off and cut it open if it has inner lining you can tell.

Changed my black hose which I had used with ethanol for years to the gray this spring just to try and prevent trouble. Don't know which ones are the best for ethanol but we had black on a portable generator that had closed up completely from ethanol use. We just recently got a place in town that has ethanol free fuel.

They must vary in color, but I bought mine from my local Mercury shop earlier this year and it was labeled specifically to be ethanol resistant and it is a grey Mercury brand so not sure what the deal is. I bought the whole assembly, bulb and all.
I only run ethanol free (at least that is what the pump says, we've heard of some cases where it was labeled ethanol free but wasn't)
Hope I don't have a problem, I keep Stabil in my gas as well.

Opinions are like elbows but if I was going to run ethanol gas and I don't it would be best to put an in line filter between the hose and the motor. Monkey wrench the Sinclair gas station on highway 65 just south of Pickles Gap has non ethanol gas. If your going to continue to run ethanol gas you need to invest in the stay-bill additive for preventing white rust, It is blue green in color. I had the same problem last year and have not had any problems since.
