Default How are the crappie biting up river of from Carter Cove on Nimrod?

Thinking about trying to ease over to Nimrod in next couple days. Was wondering if anyone had fished up the river from Carter Cove. If so could anyone tell me approx. depth the fish might be holding in? Thanks for any info.

Had no reports lately. On the 17th , I kept half my limit in one stakebed in Sunlight bay. Then on the 20th I took someone back there looking and did not catch a keeper but water temp rose to 97 degrees that day! Have no fished the upper river at all. My guess would be in tops and stumps over river ledges fishing @ 10'.

Concentrate your efforts in the mouths of openings leading into the main river channel. In the first 1-2 miles where the river narrows(There are several of them) with land on each side. I have caught decent fish two pole verticle jigging the mouths and slowly working the jigs on inside the mouths as shallow as 4-6 feet deep and it was the hot part of the day. Other times I have found them deeper in about 8-15 feet where the mouths dump off into the river channel. 1/8th oz painted heads with tubes verticle jigging or trolling minnows should get you bit. Allot of these mouths have cover or laydowns in them. Don't be afraid to go up into these openings and try shallower just off the bottom in 4-6 feet deep. Good Luck and hope this helps.
