I've been catching a few crappie at night under the bridge on the west side and along the bluff line across from Horseshoe Bend park using lights and minnows or shad. Durring the day I'm still fishing docks and tree lines near drop offs. I have been doing well in the mornings catching at least a limit and a half each time if not more. Fishing is usualy done by 10:30. I mostly have been using minnows.
    I hope this helps.

I went out Saturday night not great, but caught 10 nice slabs. Even caught about a 8lb. catfish first fish of the night. Always, motivating on 4lb. test. Also using minnows. Bite stopped around 10:00 , then started back a little bit at 12:30.

Bugs were bad early till the bite quit then they were gone. Imagaine that?:D

Hey man, what kind of light are you using? When you say across from Horseshoe bend...do you mean across on the south end (towards water intake/hickory crk) or the north end (towards hwy 12 bridge/prarie creek)?? I was curious, went out there the other night but was a little overcast and visibility was poor....hmmmm (don't want to admit it but I got skunked on crappie for my first outting in over a year....) -- I did catch a few channel cats under a bluff though....so i had breakfast

Where were you fishing? Are you on the north end or south end? tail waters? I am thinking I am going to convert my ways and quit being stubborn and start finding these drops where the big fish are....i just don't want to hook into a hybrid while trolling for crappie, hahaha, that would be fun. great catch on the catfish, i caught a 4.5 white bass on 4 lb test then my next cast (live bait) caught a 5 lb catfish, still on the same 4 lb test...i had the time of my life...that was back in early early march though....good luck fishing

fishing the 12 bridge area from horseshoe bend to shaddox hollow. I may go and try shaddox this evening for a few hours. Bite should be good following this rain. Been catching the nice slabs tightlining minnows 2 - 5 feet off the bottom. Caught the big cat 8' deep under slip float.

I fish the large bluff line directly across from the steep launch ramp at Horseshoe Bend park. I anchor in about 60' of water as close to the bluff as I can. I use the 24" green submersable lights, two of them and a floating white light. I will be in the NW Arkansas morning news outdoor section either this week or next night fishing under the bridge.
I am fishing near the water intake north of hickory creek tonight for crappie or maybe some whites.

The water clarity is a little dingy after that last rain. The visability around Horseshoe Bend Park is around 5'. I think the Lost Bridge area would be a better choice where visability is up to 20'.
From 540 (71) take exit 83 and go east on 94 then follow the signs to Horseshoe Bend.
