Default Fun day on Lake Nimrod..

Saturday July 14th we had a great day on Lake Nimrod. The red buoy's were your friend. Every Red buoy had at least two boats fishing around it. We kept 39 fish. I let two keepers get off right at the boat. Again Rachel caught tghe biggest fish. Teresa didn't help much, but she was fishing on the same side of the boat as I was so I was thinning them out before they ever got to her poles. Thumbs Up.

We did see something that I never saw before... we were fishing about 8-10 feet deep on the shallow side of the buoy...I had a little fish (about 6" crappie) on one pole and my other pole bounced... I grabbed it and it was a bigger fish, so I made sure to hook the little fish and dropped it back in the lake to catch the bigger one. Just as I got the bigger fish in the ice chest my pole with the little fish bowed in half. , "I know darn well that little fish aint doing that" I said as I grabbed the pol and hollard "I need the net, i must have a catfish or something. As I got the fish pulled up to the surface, I heard Teresa say "oh my goodness" so she saw it too... it was a BASS...the bass jumped into the air, with it's mouth open and all you could see was the crappie tail. The hook was in the crappie's lip...That bass was big enough to swallow that 6" carppie... well he spit the crappie out and all I saw was the shadow of the fish that could have been.

My Grandson came over and we cleaned fish. He got his hands fishy for the first time. It was great. He handed the fish to me from the cooler. It is very important to pass the love of God and the Love of the Great outdoors on to the younger generations.

Good catch Jerry! Bob and I fished over by Corp pile 18 where we did real good last weekend. Didn't do as well there Saturday. I saw all the boats around the river buoys! Right now the small shad are the key. Keep up with a school of them and you'll be in fish.
