LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Little Rock businessman appointed to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is vowing to advocate for transparency by the panel.



Gov. Mike Beebe on Thursday named Ford Overton to the panel that oversees wildlife in Arkansas.

Overton owns West Tree Service and is a member of the commission's foundation board. Overton says he would back greater openness from the commission and says he wants to expand its education opportunities.



Overton's term expires July 1, 2019. He replaces commissioner George Dunklin of DeWitt.



Beebe praised Overton and said the businessman has an enthusiasm for hunting, fishing and conservation.
