Default Single pole jiggin green cyprus 4th of July

Fished green Cyprus to catch these today, fish were on the shady side of trees right on the bottom in 5-7 fow, used white/chart with 1/8oz red head, lost a couple of keepers early and lost a 1 1/2 lbr that would have been big fish for the day and number 20, that one hurt, that was at 11:30 and I had told the wife I would be home by 10:00 so decided I better call it a day , still a good day of fishing!Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341423957.862628.jpg

I used to do that very thing when I lived in Conway. A 12' jig pole, a bunch of skeeters, and some shiners made for a good day on Lake Conway back in those days.

No question in my mind having the take while you are holding the pole is real hard to beat. The Thump or the One-Tunk or the Tap, whatever you call it, there is nothing like it in fishing. And if you are holding your one pole, you have a shot at the additional 30-40% of takes that you never feel.

Nice catch, assuming 20 is the limit, a very nice outing, one to be proud of. Nice fish, too. We have very few white crappies around here, but that sort of approach works for the blacks when adapted to docks and open water boating, too, even without the stump fields or the bald cypress neither of which we have up here. Where you work the shady side of the tree, I work the dock shadow and the fingers and inside bends on the shaded side of weed lines.
