    Default water pump

on a 1996 25 hr mariner (which is new to me) setting in the yard with muffs I get a drip from the tattle tale, then I get a stream, then a drip then a stream and that keeps going on. Is this normal? I cleaned the tattle tale and it still does the same. I appreciate your answer.

Could be trash, take airhose and blow it back down the P hole, if that doesn't work you'll have to replace pump.

Take a piece of weedeater line and run it in and see if that cleans trash out. If not replace it. YouTube they are easy to do.

Reve it up and if it turns to a nearly solid stream the impeller has some rubber fins missing. Needs changed immediately if that is the case. I reccommend every 2 years.

Check or better yet, change out the thermostat too. Best thing you can do for any motor is a water pump.

Have a friend that had same problem on a 25 Merc.

If it has set up at all replace the impeller. If a piece has broke off and got lodged where you cant get to it you're in trouble. Don't pay $100 to do it either. Its easy and the impeller can't be more than $15 in the internet. My nissan 25 impeller is $8 and I change it about once a year. 30 mins max when you figure out what youre doing.
