Oh I know you can catch em that way. Over in OK that's the only way we fish during the Winter and Spring....well when spawn hits you can just throw jigs up and down the banks till you find em and really as they start coming up you can catch more just casting out over them and slow retrieve than trolling. They have far more crappie though than do these Hot Springs lakes or even Dequeen, Gilliam, Greeson, lakes. More than one way to skin a cat, I know you know that. I love to tie on 2 jigs about 3' apart and long line for em in 14-20' of water with the long poles myself but that technique don't work everywhere. I've spent years trying to find them on Gilliam, Dequeen lakes and it's usually in the same spots, not very many, and not all year around but good size and enough to make a mess when you do seem to find them, not nearly as fun as that OK bite has been or we wouldn't be driving all that way to fish. I just wish it was better in the Hot Springs area.
