My dad let an old man from Mena get to him on a crappie boat and now he needs a motor. The boat ain't bad but the old Johnson locked up on him soon after he'd had it. He's already going to take a loss on the deal and it's left him stranded on the lake twice now. It seems all the used motors are ancient though and not worth spending $ on. I'd almost tell him to go buy a new 40 horse for just over 5K and be done with it! I wanted him to get a small X-press or Triton boat that's setup right but he bought that before I knew it.

You need a steering(remote) model or a tiller model? I have a nice older Yamaha remote model, and any kinda new one you want.

I have two 40hp Yamaha's for sale. One remote, and one tiller. I just got a 70hp tiller Yamaha this week. Sure don't need all 3.

Thanks guys the little boat he got is a stick steer, my 1st dealing with one of those so I don't know how the cables will adapt or anything?? The new route as bad as I hate to say it may be the best route. If he does go new I'm going to suggest not to get the bigger motors, stay under 25 horse or so. I had a 14' with a 20 horse tiller motor that did just fine once upon a time....pushed the heck outa that little boat. As long as it's not one of those old white Johnson's, junk, junk is what they are!!! I won't go back to the cold natured mercs either and I'll suggest he not go that route.
I have no first hand knowledge of this site........but it does sound intriguing.

But they are merc's, sorry. Appear to be 'commercial grade' which appear to be different, but man, I don't know much about that......I didn't even know there were two grades......
Just info I ran across that might help you....not an endorsement.
