    Default First time pulling cranks

Wikldmanjp took me on a pullin' on Norfork Sunday morning. Had a fun trip even if we only caught 16 keeper crappie with a few trash fish like walleyes and catfish. Could have caught lots of whites but jp like many others pass on the whites. the crappies showed little color preference. We caught them on several shades of pink and I have had a "mistake" on the dash for a few weeks. the sun has faded the red side to a pinkish hue. caught a few on it. really color mattered little. Unless we never tried the magic color that would have filled the cooler. I found it hard to get those 18 foot poles out of the holders due to the side pressure and lost several. Probably enough to make JP wonder if he should have invited me. They were biting lightly and had the back hook barely in their lips. It is hard to manipulate that long pole through the others without shaking the fish off. Tough work but someone has to do it!!! Had a couple of doubles and 4 one tim e. Of course I managed to lose my 1 while JP caught his 3. Whites. Steady catching til about 10 when the water lice came out, Man have you noticed how little respect those speed boaters have for fishermen? JP's boat isn't the biggest on the lake and they would come by throwing a wake that could have been dangerous. Breaking the maritime laws for sure. Odd that they have the whole lake to run in but they have to ski back in the creeks like the Barren fork around a few fishing boats. We were 50 feet off one shore with a half mile behind us but of course they had to go betwixt us and the near bank. I was wishing for a hidden rock about 6 inches submerged,

Now the sad thing is I have to get another 6 poles or so and finish rigging up one of my boats. Also looking for that bass buggy to rig. Maybe i would have been better off with a bad day pullin'. It would have been cheaper.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

a gun the goes bang when it is supposed to go click.

Nice report. Learning a new way of putting fish in the boat is always fun. Only problem with pulling cranks is that's best during the summer months which means putting up with those idiots you mentioned. Congrats on the catch.

Hawg - Let me know how you do. I am leaning towards Greers this weekend. When it gets 101 I plan on a float trip down the Little red if they are generating.
