Big wide Base trees with low hanging branches or clusters of 3 to 5 trees putting allot of shade on the water were the key to getting a bite on Conway. The trees had to be in about 6 feet of water and the bait had to be just off the bottom and slowly moving away from the tree or tight shade pockets in the trees. Took me from daylight to about 1PM to get a limit then the sun just drove me off the lake. Man it was hot out there. I was using a 10 foot ozark rod verticle jigging which made it easier to jig around the branches and trees. Skinny isolated live cypress dont waste your time unless its a big base with low hanging branches in this heat. It was also key to get my bait right in the darkest tightest shade pockets of the cluters of trees I fished. Color didnt seem to matter caught about the same on dark and light colored body baits with chart tail MG jigs and tubes. I used 1/24th and 1/16 oz heads tipped with silver metal flake nibbles. This is about a typical summer time catch for me on Conway. Mostly Blacks but at it's best you can put a limit of 12-15 inch blacks in the boat... talk about fun. Any way they are there in the trees waiting for you to get em...If you can stand the heat and the frustration of 1000 stumps and tree limbs. LOL The Pic of the boat in the pads was a day on the lake with Midsouth Man on Peckerwood coming out of the Red barn landing. Beautiful Spot

-Better take lots of cold water. A limit ain't worth a heat stroke. You earned every one of those.

My hat's off to ya, dude! With the lake a foot low, and 100 degree heat, you deserve every one of those fish! If you are gonna do that, and I know you are, stay hydrated and wrap a cold towel out of the ice chest around your neck and over your head every now and then, ya hear?Nice mess of fish! Thumbs Up
