We all say we've loaded up on the slabs from time to time but really, what length is your crappie considered to be a slab? Im sure this has done been posted in the past so sorry bout that but we are all different in what we consider to be a slab.
In my book if he's, she's over like 15" i'd call it a slab. Now if you can consistently boat that 12-14" size crappie that's nothing to sneeze about either. My biggest would have to be about 19"s and it's been years ago with a large white rooster tail. I've not found anything nearly as big in recent years though. I keep saying if I get one that's 18+ I'll have to make a decision whether to mount it or not. I think of all the fish mounted a big black crappie has to be the prettiest.

I agree those 15'' and above are my slabs. Some folks call what we call good keepers slabs. It really depends on the body of water as they are not all equal in producing big Crappie.

Anything over 12" is a slab where I fish. 9-10" is the good ones. 8" if you're hungry. 16 AND you consider calling a taxidermist.

15" and up is a slab here. Under 10"s is a dink and not worth the time to clean unless your out of fish, fish hungry and that's all you can catch....

15 to 17 inch crappie is a slab, anything under that is just a good eating size crappie. 15 to 17 inch crappie eat good to, real good baked or grilled.

Depends on what part of the country you live in. Up north, it might be a 12-13"er. Down in Sippi, it might be a 16"er.
