    Default praise for local tackle store

    i want to share a praise for a local tackle store. i went to academy sports & gander mtn. to look for a particular fish finder, humminbird matrix 17. I wanted something w/ a dual beam 60 degree coverage for the front of the boat. neither chain store had a unit i needed, & didn't seem interested in helping get one. I even called the other academy in west LR, and they didn't have it either. So, do I see if anyone else has it, or just order online? Well, I thought I'd try calling a few local tackle stores to see if they might have one in stock. I called Fish N Stuff, and he said he didn't have one in stock, but could order it & get it same day or next day possibly. He put me on hold, found out they could get it that day. He called me around 230pm, had it in stock. I went & picked it up, as promised. You're probably thinking, "he paid more than he would at a chain store". Wrong! Same price as quoted by BassPro. That's service. The downside to these local tackle is they don't stay open all of the time, & some things they are way too high on. (chatterbaits in stock, but for $8!) Found that at walmart for $5. But, they still need local support. I've found they can get a lot of these mid-level priced items this way, and really want to help. They have a lot more expertise than the kids at the chain stores. I also found out that fishnstuff has an online store. It's a little limited, but you can get some cranks, hooks, & other assorted stuff.
    Here is a link to their site;

    Support the locals! When BassPro gets a store in here, these guys will have a much harder time, & they (basspro) won't have the expertise these locals have.

    I know what you mean andybenham,,,, I was at bass pro yesterday looking for a paticular item and after traveling 50 miles out of my way I came up short of nothing...It had to be ordered also....I looked around at the fishing tackle and I personally thought they were over-priced..But people flock in that place like theres no tomorrow.....It pays to shop around...They're much lower prices elsewhere.....

    Randy, I'm glad Fish N Stuff could help you out....I have been shopping there for years. They are some good people down there and they really know ALOT about fishing. I don't hardly go anywhere else. Sure, they might be a few dollars more here and there for stuff, but I will pay that for nice people that want to help you anyway they can.

    Two years ago I was looking for a Zebco Omega reel for my wife. Walmart and the chains stores did not have it in stock. I went there and he had just what I was looking for. The price was the same as if I would have ordered it from Bass Pro.
