    Default Grand Kids

Starting two threads in the same day is unusual for me; see "New Home".

I thought I would share a little bit about what mrs DP and I have been going through the last couple of weeks....
1st of all, for those who have asked, my sister is not doing well at all. Her time is very short. Thanks
Along with that, Mrs DP and I have gained Guardianship of two of our grandkids. Some of the older members will remember we went through this about 5 years ago. It is the same two. This time the father has not proven to be a complete waste like the mother (meth). But, I feel he is just not as ready as he thinks he is to raise a couple of kids and fight their demon mother at the same time.
We had an experience quite out of character for us last week. After the judge gave us custody, we rushed to Sebashtian County where the mother had the kids hid out from DHS and any other authority. We didn't know it at the time, but the 6 year old told us this weekend that "the cops hollered if (aunt) didn't open the door, they were breaking it down". They did in fact bust the door down. Now I am accused of lying by the relative after she has given shelter to the kid's meth head mother while they were living there. She has 3 kids of her own. I guess she is too ignorant to realize that she is teaching all of those kids to condone drug abuse by harboring a known meth head. All the mother is using her for is to crash in between "highs". After she regains her strength, she is back out into the street to start the cycle all over.
The kids had a good weekend. They still look out the window when a car goes by. I asked the 9 year old why. She said DHS is looking for her and her little brother. She also said they can't go to Jacksonville to visit their father because the police and DHS are looking for them there.
Terrible, terrible thing to teach your kids.
Thanks for reading. I just need to vent some. After watching the Hatfields and McCoys last week, I feel like Devil Ans. Except I don't get to shoot nobody; yet.

Thanks for "saving" those kids. All kids desevre a chance, and you are going to give them one.

I thank God there are folks like you in this world.

That's a great thing you and your wife are doing. I took my nephew out a similar situation. I commend you, I know it's not easy but it's definitely worth it.

I know this is something none of us look forward to, raising 2 sets of kids, but sometimes we dont have choices and have to play the hand we're dealt. I commend you and Mrs Pepper for taking them in to raise as your own. I'm sure they will be brought up right with good ethics and values.Thumbs Up Maybe as the children grow they'll realize the mistakes the parents made and wont make those same mistakes themselves.

best wishes in your journey, it will not be an easy for sure, but doing what is right for the kids is a good thing. Stay strong and hopefully the kids will turn out all right when they get older.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
