Anybody fish the lakes there? I've heard of some good size crappie being caught over there. If so what lakes are your favorite? What about bass fishing, which lakes?

Wecome to the site. I don't fish over there but been told they hold some good fish. There are some on here that might answer your questions.

I've got a couple of friends that fish Balboa on occasion. I've never been on the water there. You can't get access to the lakes unless you are a POA member or a guest of one.

I fished Cortez one time early in the year and only caught a couple with one of those being small. Cache22 is one of the local experts there and catches some big ones from time to time.

Good luck and hope you have a good time. Don't forget to eat at The Home Plate. Some good vittles can be had if the fish are biting or not.

Fished there once as a guest during late summer about 10 years ago. Clear water made things difficult, but we went back after dark and fished plastic worms to catch quite a few bass up to 3 lbs. Can't remember which lakes, but we tried 2 out that night and both were productive.

Clear water makes you work hard to catch 'em....... think they are boat shy, because long lining works best. Slow in summer, fall and spring better. Have never caught a limit, but always can keep the freezer stocked.Name: crappieMar22,11.jpg

You fishing minnows or jigs over there? Do you have any luck on the smaller lakes or do you normally fish Cortez and balboa?
