Default Maiden voyage on arkansas river

Well I got out this afternoon after work. Decided to try a new place. Took the old girl out and started finding some brush I love the lowrance units. Fished for about two hours and filled a half five gallon bucket. I am going to learn this Arkansas River fishing. It's too big of a system to pass up. I left the fish biting in search of new areas for next time. My goal is to find at least three new areas to fish every time I go fishing. This will lead to more opportunities every time I go.

Miss the river down there. Used to find crappie on it all the time. They don't have as many options as people think. Out of current with some decent current... bang! They were all healthy crappie I used to find.

I never fished down there on the river or ox bow lakes without minners. If they are biting good, they bite better on fresh fish. I mostly fished up from Little Rock around Mayflower and the creeks coming in, can't remember the names. Did well also down around Pine Bluff area. Slack water, flooded timber when it's up, etc all did well.

I'll tell you a place I still dream about. The Maumell river up from it's connection with the Arkie. I've traveled that entire trail from Pinnacle Mt to the river. There are hundreds of acres of cypres out there. I think I caught over 40 channel cat one day on crickets around the trees.

That area used to hold some good Bass. It was full of Cypress up Little Maumelle, heard part of them were cut down. Have not been up there in years. Was told it held lots of Crappie.
