    Default New to the board

New to this board but have found tons of interesting topics so far.

A little intro I'm military from Missouri stationed here at LRAFB. I used to go along as a boy and tear em up on the big piney and gasconade back home. Well to make a long story short I got into a duck boat and what better way to get use out of it in the summer then to get to know the waters a pick up a few fish along the way.

Been pickthorne so far but not much luck. Headed to lake Conway this weekend. I have been there a couple years ago in a buddies boat and had pretty good luck. Anyways I was wondering if any of you have insight on which ramp to hit and where to stay around?

Welcome aboard. Im new to the sight as well. There is a lot of interesting and helpful things on this site. Also everyone seems to be eager to offer advice. My wifes family is from MO. They live near the Gasconade around Competition, MO.
As for Lake Conway, there are A LOT of good places to fish and plenty of access. I always liked fishing out of Palarm Creek, Adams and Pierce the best but any is a good place. Gold Creek is kind of renowned I guess you could say for the spring crappie fishing as well. The key to Conway is to start putting time on the water. You will learn the lake and find the creek channels. There use to be some good maps of the lake that could be bought. Use your graph if you have one and start fishing. Jigging around the cypress trees is always a good place to start.
Im not sure if you live on the base or where but there are some good lakes out in Scott/Englad area as well that are accessible.

    Good Luck!

Let us know how you do.

I haven't had a lot of crappie success at Clear Lake this year. I fished it hard a few times as well as some buddies and all we are seeing is primarily dinks. One keeper out of a hundred fish out of four days of fishing. I haven't been on Plum this year but I suspect it is probably a little better crappie wish than Clear. You could also go to Barnett in Romance, AR or cut through to Bayou Des Arc and the oxbows along the White or in the Wattensaw WMA area.

Try some of the lakes in Henry Grey reserve up out of Bald Knob. It is about as close as Conway is for you. There are several lakes in it. I liked what was called the sisters lakes. Lot's of people like Hurricane too. Great lakes for small boats. Welcome and Thanks for your service.

Welcome from Cabot . Glade to here from a fellow Cabotsdian. The white river lakes are starting to get right, and wattensaw bayou will be good when the river hits 13' at DesArc. Good fishing

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I heard Bayou Des Arc was pretty good right now, and seen a few pics of a boat carrying quite a few slabs to back it up. Definetly wanna try out Henry Gray, but that place was a little confusing to say the least when I went out to look around, but that was back in November and the fish were jumping all over the place in Hurricane so its on my list just gotta bring a gps, and have a whole day. I remember the cut outs up in Lake conway, and they were something else. Almost lost a trolling motor on our first trip out. Those stumps are not very forgiving, and I wouldn't dare take a fiberglass out there unless I really knew the area. I should be safe with my.100 aluminum, and taking it slow though.

Been picking up tube jigs so hopefully I have a color they like, and the fishing report says 4 ft being that it should be about 70-80 I imagine that wont change too much, but ya just never know. Hopefully I can find a good structure, and tear them up. Is Dix Creek access any good? I would assume that it has an abundant amount of fish being so close to the nursery, but if it does I am sure its fished alot.
