How is the fishing on the lakes in Cherokee village. I would like to try them out but don't know if i'd be wasting my time.

I have never fished them. Sorry. But if you find out anything, let us know. Good Luck.

If you can go fishing you are not wasting your time.

The crappie have already spawned out, and yes the lakes here are private for residents and there guest.
For what it's worth the bite wasn't that good at all.

We have a house up there. We just never go this early. Thinkin bout going this weekend despite the weather. I was always told the best fishing was on Omaha. Is there any truth to this?

Thunderbird is the best crappie lake here. I've seen pic's of some 3 pound crappie [they say] that come out of Thunderbird, but they look more like 2 1/4 pounders to me, but still a very good crappie.
The crappie are in the lock-jaw mode, and back out in deeper water. I don't know anyone that's catching any right now, but who know that would change by the time you fish for em....good luck.
