Lake Level Question
Hey. I have a question about lake levels. There is something that I just can't figure out, and I figured you guys might know the answer.
I just got back from a trip through the south to see various grandkids in other states. I came back through MS and took an excursion to go see the lakes on the "Crappie Corridor".....Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, and Grenada. Each of those lakes is at least THIRTY feet low, and appear to have been for some time. They are all in the Vicksburg District of COE.
Back home, the lakes in the Little Rock District are always high and flooded, usually from March till end of June. I fish several places, but a lot on Nimrod, for example. It has been flooded for a month since the storms April 8, or so.....and has been inching down since. We had one little front go through last night, and it's already inching back up. Yet the same storm is now in Mississippi, and a check of those 4 lakes above shows that they are either not moving up, or actually going down slightly in the last day.
I can't figure this out. Now, I realize figuring out the COE is like figuring out Chinese Arithmetic, but there has to be a reason. I wanted to see the MS lakes only because I am now retired and am trying to find SOMEWHERE to fish for the 3-5 months that most of my favorite AR lakes are flooded.
I also realize that some AR lake are controlled by the same Vicksburg COE District, and they are not the same as the Little Rock District.
But it may not be as simple as just a difference in the Districts. I honestly don't know. I just know that flooded lakes are worthless to fish.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Standard answer is always power, flood control. Recreation/Fishing is the last thing considered on COE lakes unfortunatly
