Sorry RWR I have never fished it. But I am sure it wouldn't take long to find them. Also check with the local bait store and see what they can tell you. And talk to anybody else at the boat launch.

thanks minnow i fished it before .im only down here for 4 days.sometimes just knowing depth and lures will help me find the fish faster.or any tips to catch them .thanks anyway.
A fellow told me last year "if you like catching 2lbers go to Bear Creek". I said "I don't know if I'd like it or not since I've never caught a 2lber". It's not far but I've never fished it. Let us know how you do
RWR it absolutely does help when you have some current info. Yep let us know how it turns out. Good luck
Fished Bear Creek some years ago...with some success...bluegills...use crickets...start fishing in coves about 4 or 5 feet deep...gradually shallow depth of cricket until you start catching them...also, landing at main launch site go across lake and go up into the arms...any will do...start fishing close to the left bank...work your way up the arm as you fish...6 lb test-#8 cricket hook-small sinker-quill cork (best, but Walmart small diameter plastic quill-like cork will do)...what I really liked to fish for were chinkypin (red ear, GI, etc.) bream (most easily weighed a pound)...rig an ultralight outfit with a carolina rig (use 1/8 ounce slip sinker and about 18 inch 6lb test fluro leader with #6 hook)...find a 45 degree (approx) slope bank...don't get to close to bank, and start throwing bait close to bank and slowly reel back while maintaining contact with bottom...bait may be 20 feet (or more) from bank before first contact...work with it, these redears are worth the search...never crappie fished Bear Creek...standard bass gear works...black and blue metal flake were good to me...have fun, break a leg...
Save the planet, it is my favorite place to fish...
Horseshoe Lake (Hughes, AR) to the north of Bear Creek is good & Peckerwood Lake (Stuttgart, AR area) to the west of Bear Creek is also a good place for crappie. Both are excellant fishing lakes. I personally would choose either one of these two lakes and feel good about it. I've heard both are catching crappie
Old town. We're here for three days and if this afternoon sets the bar its gonna be awesome. Come on over.
