Default lake chicot / paradise fishing report

I would like to hear a good fishing report for lake chicot. I'm going there on a family reunion/camping trip. will be there friday,5/19, staying through next wednesday. I'd also like to know if it is possible to get in onto lake paradise. with all of the rain, I would think you could get in on lake paradise. I would just like to know if it's worth the trouble. I've seen the ditch on google maps satellite shots, it looks like you put in at the pumping station & head east, turn on that chute north to head into the south end of paradise. I'm not interested in any particular spots, just if anyone has been in there fishing, whether you been catching fish, etc.

We will be trotlining quite a bit on chicot, hoping to help cull out a lot of those cats, especially since there is no limit on them, due to population. I would like to hear if folks are doing any good on the crappie, if they are catching them on boat docks, trolling, or in the cypress trees. Anybody got any news?

Randy, I haven't been to chicot or paradise yet, but the Miss. River level look just right for Paradise from past experiences. Its at 18.7ft. at Arkansas city with a slow fall this week. This is usually ideal for Paradise. You have the directions right on how to get there. Hope you have good luck if you get to go.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

i have not fished either chicot or paradise lately but the last reports i got from chicot were that it was spotty on the crappie. you catch them one day and not the next. you should be able to catch all the cats you can handle. they were fishing the cypress trees mostly. LA is right on with paradise. the river level is getting ideal for fishing in there. i have not heard any reports from there lately. beware that if the river gets down to around 12 ft at Arkansas City that it will be tough to impossible to get into the chute and into Paradise.

you might look into Lake Lee while you are down there if you are interested in crappie.

Thanks guys. I have already been on the MS board about lake lee. I went there last year to deerfield landing, and we caught a few in the middle throwing crankbaits, of all things. I know for a fact we will be going to Lee, i got a map at outfitters.org that shows those brushpiles near the ramps. I'll try to get some photos up from our trip. we usually make a great cat haul on chicot, from the trotlines. It always seems like a lot of work after a while. My uncles try to cull out chicot cats by themselves with all of the trotlines they put in the water. There is always about 10-12 of us camping down there. We will be on the A loop by the park store at the state park. Hope the crappie cooperate.
