Default Maddox Bay and lakes nearby

I am so jealous; my dad left me a teasing voice mail today that he and a good friend of his are heading to the bay this Fri. and Sat. I am in VA 800 mi away and haven't fished the bay in 3+ years. So wish I could join them this weekend.

I have been reading about high water levels on some threads recently and just wanted to get some info for them on water levels, clarity, and any fishing info you guys may be willing to give to point them in the right direction. They plan to fish Kansas Lake first but would also like to hit some of the lakes off of the bay in the refuge. Any info would be much appreciated. Not asking for GPS coordinates or anything like that.

    Thanks AR CCers.

wow, that is bad. my dad just got a report from his buddy who called Miss Janice and she told them, "Water everywhere, fish in the woods scattered, fishing was bad right now". Do you think Kansas would be the same; I am not very familiar with how the flooding of the river and maddox bay affects some of the lakes like Kansas?

I think at the current level of White River Kansas Lake will probably be flooded.

Here's a great resource for river stages in a lot of places:

Rivergages.com: Providing River Gage Data for Rivers, Streams and Tributaries

Hard to find anywhere to fish in this state right now...........

HTR. I was there a couple of weekends ago and the water was high then but not past flood stage. The problem with Kansas lake is that they close the gate going to it at flood stage. Just on the other side of that gate a road goes to the left and there is a steep dirt ramp that goes into white lake. It was not affected by the water and people were killing them ther. You will need a light john boat and a 4 wheel drive to access it even when the gate is open. Call Janice back and ask her if the gate to Kansas lake is closed. I heardf that Old Town was picking back up afte the rain also as well as Melwood Old River. If he is stuck fishing high water on the Maddox Bay lakes then I would suggest that he bring along some yoyo's and go into round pond or upper forked. Also if you would please tell Miss Janice that Glen Mathis said hello and that I will be there soon.
    Glen Mathis
