I hate those "plastic" gas hoses that come pre packaged because they seem too stiff. I went to the hardware to get some soft rubber hose to build a spare and the hose they had on a spool was stiff and like plastic. Is this the normal these days, or can a person still get some decent hose somewhere?

I have the GOOD hose at the store.
BRM 870-635-0202
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.
Whatever you get make sure it's ethanol compatible.
I like the Quicksilver hose myself. I'm sure you could pick some up at BRM or your local marine shop.
Conservatism is derived from experience while liberalism is derived from ideology.
The stiff gray plastic hose is designed to not breakdown when used with ethynol in gas- which most is nowdays. I guess only time will tell !!
Thanks for all the input. Sure would like to have a spare in the boat before too long.
Go to any auto parts store and buy "auto" rubber fuel line. It won't crack in the cold or get stiff.... use hose clamps to connect to your bulb and motor and tank fittings....
Think about it, does the gas line on an auto get hard and crack in the cold? no.... I don't know why they make boat tank gas lines out of that stiff plastic.. maybe so you have to buy more each year or two when they crack...
