    Default Measuring devices

Since we catch so many dinks on Nimrod , I carry measuring boards. The plastic ones that you drop them in head first. We carry buckets to put 10'' fish and sometimes another for 11'', then 12'' and over go in the livewell. It makes it much easier to cull by size. I also take along my fish counter
Steve48 brought me. When we get 1 each(fishermen) short of a limit we released smallest every time we keep a bigger fish. Hopefully the slabs will pick up and we won't need a measuring board soon. I've found when taking some folks this helps as some are better than other judging sizes.

Just bought a golden ruler at Grizzly during the show because I heard that's what enforcement uses. I also have an EZ checker that the fish drop down in that I found at Walmart on sale.

How can the fish stay healthy and live to cull from a bucket?

Usually it's cool and not many stay in the bucket long.

I have two yellow metal yard sticks screwed into the boat one in front and one in back.
Also have my live well divided to keep the fish divided for two fishermen.
If I have a third person in the boat I will use a stringer.
I fish in MO a lot and by law you can not remove a fish from the live well to cull.
You decide to cull as you catch.
Also you have to be able to identify who caught what fish.

In a canoe on the Buffalo River, I mark my fishing rod

On Greers, where I just measure because I don't like to keep fish less than 10", I use one of the green measurer that the crappie drop done in to head first, but on a lake where there is a size limit I use a golden rule.
