That's sad. I've been on Reelfoot and had two days when the wind and waves just kept us off the lake. Life vests are all too often a second thought when second thoughts might be one to late.

BLYTHEVILLE — Authorities say an Arkansas man has drowned at a lake in Tennessee.
The Blytheville Courier News reported a fisherman found George McHan about 5 p.m. Thursday at Reelfoot Lake. The man pulled McHan into his boat and called for help.
McHan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescue workers searched the area for others who may have been with him, but no one else was found.
The Obion County sheriff’s department said 30-mph winds made waters very choppy at the lake that day.

Drowning seems to be a popular demise to the men in my family, yet I am guilty of not wearing a life jacket. (Not reccomended)
Thanks for the reminder...
I'm guilty of not wearing mine most of the time.

The wife and I wear ours at all times. In the winter, I'll wear the heavy padded jacket to help keep warm. In the summer, I go to the inflatable. I have fallen in before and if a person were to hit their heard or had really heavy clothes, it would make it impossible or at least hard to get back to the boat. I'm not the life jacket police, but just want to encourage everyone to be careful and use everything available to stay safe. Besides, at this time, I don't know here any of your fishing holes are and want you to be around when I show up mooching for a fishing spot.
We wear ours pretty much when in boat.Never did until a few years ago.Inflatable in summer and jacket in winter. Balance isn't what it used to be.
I dont wear mine as much as I should. I always wear it on the MS river and MS lakes. I need to get at in my head that any water can be dangerous. I am going to try the inflatable one this year.

I'm guilty of wearing the inflatable or vest usually only in the winter when I have cold weather gear on. When it's warm I usually don't wear either, even though I know I should. Thanks for posting this article. Maybe will make all of us think and be a little safer on the water.
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!
I always wear one all the time in the winter or alone and while running down the lake.
If kids are in the boat, they have to wear them so I do also.
But I am bad about taking them off in warm weather while fishing.
I also installed a ladder on the back of the boat.
No way I could get back in our deep V with winter clothes on without it.
