Fishing Camp Bust

Headed to fish camp as usual this time of year. The last two years we've gone to Old Town Lake which is basically a fish-catching guarantee on yoyos. Well, this year, we went to Cox Cypress Lake down at Bayou Metro. I was apprehensive about the lake's "report" from the beginning because the "lake" everyone was going to fish changed up 3-4 times in the past few weeks. So anyways, we took off, wasted gas, and headed down to Cox because people are "wearing em out." Not calling anyone a liar, but we didn't "wear them out." The lake is 5 foot at the deepest. No one was catching jack squat on yoyos. We put our 60 in 3 spots and caught 5 fish. Three white bass, a drum, and a catfish. We caught all of those fish on the bayou to the south end of the lake. In the lake, we netted ZERO fish. Me and Ronnie said, "heck with this" and left. All the other guys are staying until Monday.

Next year I'm not letting anyone talk me out of going to OTL. If I'm going to plan a trip on a weekend, I'd like to catch fish instead of just sitting around at camp getting lit. We don't get the opportunity much with our schedules and when we do I like to make the most of it. Not catching fish just isn't that fun when you work your butt off to not catch fish.

I also happened to knock the prop off of my trolling motor. So I'm also out $30 buying a new prop for a worthless trolling motor. I've run the motor about 8 times. It's way too soon for a pin to be shearing and my dang prop to come off. Garbage. That's my fishing trip weekend. I gonna need another redeeming trip sometime soon to purge this one from my memory. But at least it didn't rain on us, and we didn't fall into the lake. Anyone like to eat drum?
