    Default New Arkansas State Record

I've received numerous texts and emails over several months with a picture of the "new state record crappie" - most say it was from Lake Conway. This may be the real story - Monster crappie out of Kinkaid Lake :: Prairie State Outdoors. It obviously isn't a white crappie as reported - maybe a hybrid?

If this is a "re-hash" I appologize. I've been on the water ever day and haven't had much time to get on here.

It's good to know the real story behind that picture. Thanks Jerry and don't stay gone so long.

Yea, I've heard all the rumors too and then seen this same pic and article. It sure doesn't take much for a rumor to get out of hand does it! Thanks Jerry

sure would like to see that one and the boys supposed 5 plus side by side.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Me too, Gomer. That Arkansas state record looked a lot lighter than this fish! I think several questioned the Arkansas fish!

I just checked the Arkansas State Records in the AG&FC on-line "Handbook" and was surprised to see the new state record black crappie listed. I don't know how an 18-inch crappie with a 13-inch girth could weigh 5-pounds unless it was half lead - or maybe the scales were off a bit - or maybe they looked at the scale up-side-down and the 2 looked like a 5.

When he's holding that fish up, it looks waaay bigger than in the measurement photo. I'm not saying that it's photoshopped, but just decieving.

Anybody else see the article in Sundays Dem-Gaz saying the state record rumor was started by someone posting the photo and story on the internet? I'm guessing he meant here....the rumor was going around before it got posted on this forum...right?
