Have any of you guys fished with Colorado Spinners? They used to be fairly popular on Degray Lake, before the grass took over. Probably 30 years ago? Seeing as how I'm 33, I'm not exactly sure when, and I've never fished with them. My dad said you would attach a hook to them, toss on a minnow, and troll with them. I've got a few of them....might have to try them out some day.

They are new to me. This time of year they'd have to be weighty to get down there though. Never seen like the fish down in standing timber at about 50 or 60' on Degray right now and yet no bitey, bitey! As for the baits I've always liked the idea of having some flash along with a jig offering. They didn't bite spoons very well today down there on Degray though so I dunno how well those Colorado spinners would do.
I had a feeling not that many people had seen them before. Seeing as how I haven't ever fished with them, I'm not sure how deep they run, nor at what speeds. I'm guessing they're meant for when the crappie are in the 10-20ft range, not 25ft+. Although you could probably add a weight in front of them to get them deeper, kinda like some people do with crank baits.

Dad used to use safety pin spinners with minnows .
He trolled most of the time.
