Question SE Arkansas Fishermen Need Your Help

I know a lot of you have ties to the Delta and the Ox-bows and rivers in SE Arkansas. I am wanting to know if any of you have any spots within the Star City area (30 miles or so) that is worth the time or effort. Lost my brother about 3 years ago and his widow moved the family to her hometown. I live in Hot Springs and would like to take my 7 year old nephew fishing one weekend that does not involve me driving to Star City and back then Back to Star City. I noticed on the map a Steeds lake and a Cane Creek lake. Any one know anything about them or a better nearby spot?
    Thanks.

Cane Creek is supposedly producing some hogs. But that is just what I've heard. You can also try Lake Monticello and Morgan Point. L.A. Stumpjumper is the man you need to talk to about this. He just posted pics from his last trip to Morgan Point. Good Luck.

Cane Creek is a good lake it produce some big slabs all winter. I haven't heard what their catching this spring. Lots of stumps so be careful motoring. Put in at the State Park ramp and as you go out to your left you will see some standing dead cypress, this is what they call the beaver pond. On the North edge of that is where the crappie were caugh during the winter. There is also some big bluegill and redears in the lake usually in any of the shallow coves on that same side of lake. Hope this helps. Morgan Point may be further than you want to drive, its east of Dumas on the Arkansas River. Good crappie and bream there. Good luck.

Thanks, I have made plans to be there the evening of Monday May 1st and fish Tuesday the 2nd. I take it I better stock up on some of those road-runners you had displayed in your other post and hope for the best. I think we will have a wonderful time just being out there, but hopefully by the end of the summer he and I will have it licked. Thats the one thing my brother and I instilled in him at an early age, the love of the outdoors. I have a feeling I may be in that area more than I had planned. I am glad to hear that your back fishing after the surgery and while I'm fishing the area I be sure to have a 6 pack of Busch Light. From the pics from before your surgery that seems to be your brand. I am always willing to offer any fisherman that is as helpful as you have been a refreshment.

    Hey Jakekatfishin:

If you ever need some help on Hamilton or Greeson let me know. We have a couple hundred brushpiles on each lake and should be able to put you on some good fish. We're doing pretty well on both lakes right now.
