    Default For cranks pullers only

If you have ever fisher a crank bait and put it in your box wet you know that the hooks will rust very quickly then you need to replace them. Crappie have a thin soft mouth and hook very easy so most any treble hook will work, BUT I may use my cranks for other species of fish so I have started buying TRIPLE GRIP TREBLES. Their design allows them to hold better much like a wide gap bass hook. I just bought some from BPS and since it is cold today I am going to go through my cranks and see which ones I need to replace, I hate to miss a fish, any fish, because of a dull or rusty hook and rusty hooks don't sharpen well.

I try to hang my cranks before I but them back in the box, but I also placed a couple of rust inhibitor chips in my storage box and that seems to have worked very well. As of right now I do not have any rust on the crank baits that I used last season. VCI Pro Chips is one and I have another kind that is make by Flambeau called a Zerust Plastabs. I really like the Flambeau product because if it gets wet it still works. http://www.flambeauoutdoors.com/fish...tails&i=6643ZR

I might add that I never put a crank bait back in my tackle bag wet now. I put them all in a tray in my boat and by the time I get home they are dry and ready for the box. The point to my thread is THE TRIPLE GRIP HOOKS. They come stock on a berkley Flicker Shad which is a great bait for trolling or casting. I buy the ones that will dive 11' to 13' . I have caught ever kind of fish you can imagine on this bait. As they say "try it you will like it". You can buy Triple Grip Hooks at Academy Sport and BPS.
