    Default Fishing trip canceled today.....

I got the cover off the skeeter today and was all set to hit Degray again in search of slabs. Sun popped out and with a big front coming in I thought they may be just swimming around with their mouths open waiting for something to eat. I removed the tarp off the boat and leaned down to spread the cover out so it would air dry when I felt the sharp pain in the lower back. I limped back to the camper put the rods back up and went for the Ibuprofen and Hydros. I swear my back just goes out when I least expect it and all I did was bend over. Anybody else on here struggle with back pain?? I have curvature of the spine so that's bad enough in itself. Good news is it usually goes away i a couple days if not before.

Yeah, mine acts up every now and then. But, with me it's just old age. Hope you feel better quick. It's hard to be down when the fish are biting.

I have back trouble as well, doing just the simplest of the things can cause it to "seize" up on me, usually muscle spasms as a result of a HS football injury, which can take from a couple days to a week or more to finally quit hurting. My back can get stiff or start to spasm if I drive for too long without stopping for a stretch break. yeah, I know where you're coming from, just bending over and something catches. I do some excercises 5 days/wk to help combat this, and has helped me alot. GL

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Are you familar with a TENS unit?? My back flares up every now and then, I was at an RV show and a huckster was selling these units for $300. It is a nerve stimulation unit that doctors and chiropractors use to mask pain. I called my chiropractor back home and he said he could sell me one for $80 so I got one from him. It has saved the day for me on more than one occasion, either fishing or golfing. It is a small battery pack unit that clips to your belt and has 2 to 4 electrodes that stick to your back using sticky pads. You can set the intensity and pulse type to best suit your needs.

Here is one link Buy Drive Medical Digital Dual Channel 5 Mode TENS Two Strength Duration Mode Carrying Case Online at drugstore.com

You can google it an find them from 30 to 300 dollars. If you have a chiropractor he may can sell you one but they work well. Does not fix the problem, just masts the pain so you can go about your business.

Dang, Electrodes?? Hope I don't fall outa the boat with those suckers attached and shocking! Really though, the times i've taken guys who've been hurt at work for PT they use them there too when trying to stimulate muscles. It's feeling better already though, in the morning will be the real test. Wind is supposed to blow big time tomorrow but warmer weather is on the way after that and my dad is off all next week so I'll be ready to get back on the water.

Good luck with your back getting better. I know it can put a damper on anything else you try to do.

i struggle with back pain myself. here about 2 weeks ago i had a disk rupture . no my first rodeo though i have ruptured 3 others in th past. it really limits what you do. i have cut a lot of things out of my life that were just to hard on me. cant run around in the yard throwing the football with my son, cant do a lot of things i enjoy. i have to be cautious so i dont do anything to sore my back up any more than possible or i will definetly pay for it at work, where i spend all day bent over shoeing horses. i have seen any and everyone within the medical profession and can honestly say that none of them have helped me as much as learning to live with the pain, learning my limitations and what i can and cant do.

Yep. I had surgery to repair a ruptured disc several years ago and still have trouble. I have hurt mine by just getting in the truck to sit down. I think most of my trouble is due to over consumption of good food.
