Default Battling EM Out On the Flats/Gold Creek/1-6-12

After Fighting off a severe case of Bronchitis for the last two weeks I finally felt good enough to get back after em. Launched at Dano's/Gold Creek and went right across the creek channel and into the flats. I was amazed that most of my day saw not one other boat in the area. I would make long casts with a 800RC/Midsouth and 1/32 oz chart head with a nibble and saw my bobber get pounded about 2 feet deep along the I-40 Bank. I was making very long cast with the wind at my back with a wieghted bobber. LOL I bet I was casting at least 50 yards and I can tell you what a 2lber feels like in skinny water 50 yards away. (PURE FUN) It was a great day after being sick for almost two weeks it was nice too feel that big slow wobble on the end of my line again. Probly had six that would push the two lb mark.

Glad you're feeling better CP. Sounds like you had an awesome day of fishing. That's probably my favorite way to catch crappie is casting a jig and cork. That's what we have been doing over here with our bigger fish averaging just over a pound. I'll take that anytime the fishing is tough.
We used to drive over the mountain at the shooting range and put in at Green's Lake with a 12 foot flatbottom during March and April. We would just wear them out casting a 1/16 crawdad colored beetle spin. I remember the lily pads would just be starting to come out. Been many years since I've fished Conway. When I get my boat back together I'll have to venture over that way and give it a try. I've tried Dardanelle, and Lake Atkins so far this year. I want to try to fish some places I've never been yet like some of the Mississippi lakes like Grenada and Sardis.
Congrats on the big slabs, good pics!

Good mess of fish and some big ones too. I grew up fishing on the river with cork and jig so I know what your saying when they sink that cork and you lift only to feel solid at the other end of it.
