    Default Lake Conway crappie

Found these out in the log jams today, they were really tearing up my jig today, I fished for along time today trying to cull the biggest fish for Mid size fish, I still left with a couple of big fish, I caught a bunch of fish, but the majority of the big brood fish, I was able to release. I am doing my part to insure that there are a lot of big fish left for the spawn. Midsouth tubes was the bait of choice, tight lined down through the logs, most bites came at about 3' to 4' foot. Pink/chartreuse was the color of choice, it was coupled with a pink lead head. I am pretty sure I hooked up with a hog of a bass, he really stretched my line, that hook in my jig could not handle him. You could of used that lead head as a nail as straight as that hook was. It was a real fight for who was the dominant force. As you can tell he was in his world underwater and I was in my world above the water, he had the home field advantage. But he knew he had tangled with me, we both went away with our bumps and bruises, but he dominated. I am sure he will bite again another day, he is still there to fight another angler someday. All of the crappie that I cleaned had eggs in them, if the amout of eggs they had is any indication the spring spawn, it should be a strong one, provided mother nature cooperates and don't flood them out after the eggs are dropped. Which I have seen this happen on more than one occasion.

Nice catch. I have been getting fish like that out of the jams. And I also have found a few small catfish. I have though found some fish around the trees out of brandons landing. They haven't been huge but good eaters.
