I don't know. Nimrod is so tough to fish during the spawn that most guys fish elsewhere. My favorite month for Nimrod is June. I would pick some of the shallower dingy lakes as they will probably have some good spawning action by then.

What would be your pick for the best lake for crappie in Mid-March? I realize weather can change things fast at that time of year. Going to take a week long crappie fishing trip then and just looking for suggestions. I read somewhere last year that Millwood was the best crappie lake in the state. I don't see it talked about much on here so thought Crappie.com member opinions might be different than the magazine I read.

CATCH A BIG-UN
Some where is southern Ark. That is where the spawn will start. If you are flexible and not fixed to one lake I would go to different lake untill I found them. IMO
KJV Numbers 32:23 " be sure your sin will find you out."
i ordinarily fish lake washington which is in ms.about 25mi across the state line starting in mid feb thur may but the last couple of years the lake and the fishing both have gone way down. to much pressure ( yo-yos by the thousands) and low water (want fix the spillway right) and lack of rain has really hurt this once great oxbow!!

Water levels is key to when best fishing as well as temps. Spawn is usually mid April here on Nimrod. Southern Arkansas can be much better sooner and even later farther north. If flood control lakes are normal level it can make finding fish much easier. I start catching good fish stage'n in March on Nimrod and usually catch them in deep water through June. Some fish are always stage'n as they all don't spawn at once. Post spawn fish usually return to same haunts they used prespawn. There are many lakes that produce good fish if water levels and time'n is right.
Start places like Millwood early working your way north to Greason, Nimrod , Conway just for a few examples.

old town
Where is Old Town? What town is it close to?
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!
Or maybe more WEst Of Helena. Either way it is in the community of Lakeview, Ar. The lake is shallow and crappie..weather permitting... will be close to spawn. You should be able to load up on 2 to 3 pound catfish also. Once you locate some fish, stick around and fish real slow, you will catch them.
Ouachita, pollard creek / Not just good crappie fishing, but a beautiful area to camp.
Brother Mc, get out of my crappie hole!!!
