Disclaimer first....I'm not an expert on crappie fishing. I do get into them good on occasion, but I'm not nearly as consistent as most of the other guys that post on here. So take my advise with a rather large dose of salt.
I always hear from several sources that the crappie bite better up the lake...think around Arlie Moore, as far up as Shouse Ford, and around Alpine Ridge/Yancy Creek. I do more of my fishing around Brushy Creek...it's easier for my dad and I to meet there. I almost never hear of people crappie fishing near the dam, dike, or state park. But I don't know many people that live on that side of the lake either. Also, seems everyone either catches them on minnows, or Kalin's Tennessee Shad colored jigs. The gentlemen at the baitshop just outside of Caddo Valley generally knows what's biting and what they're biting. You might stop there and check with him.

Welcome to the board . First thing to do = get rid of that brushbustin #20 lb line (oxbow line) and get you some 4# or 6# test line !! lol

We went to degray the 29th and 30th. 29th my dad and I had an outing of a lifetime catching our limit with no crappie under 1.3 largest was 2 lbs 5 oz. Crappie are 25 ft to 33 ft. morning and late in the afternoon. 30th was slower but caught a lot of nice fish, largest was 2.2 lb / Arlie more area
I feel your pain, ouachita and degray are tough, but if you find them you can catch some of the best crappie in the state. Good luck / those bamboo coordinates should help a lot!
