    Default Help with motor

Hello my fellow crappie family. I'm having an engine running problem with an evinrude 9.9 and it will start and idle but when i put it in forward or reverse it cuts off. I was out on Lake Conway a couple of days ago and i broke the starter string on my other evinrude 4hp motor. With my battery dead on my trolling motor you can imagine the paddling that i had to do to get back to the bank. Im losing sleep because i can't get out on the water and drag them in. Can someone point me in the right direction in the Conway area of someone that won't rip my head off with repair prices.

Try posting on the mechanics corner. Someone might help there.

Sounds like a carb cleaning is due. It runs ok untill you put a load on it and it demands more gas. Its not unusual with this ethanol gas to gum up the jets. Seloc prints a repair manual that shows step by step how to do repairs and those carbs, in your case, that carb is simple to work on.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

also check for a air leak in the fuel system.that is a easy carb to rebuild ,you can get a rebuild kit and do it in acouple of hours.check i boats.com for parts there is a screen in the fuel pump cover just remove the flat screw where the fuel line connects.

Thank you guys for the responses, I will have some time today to work on them and will check and clean the carb and for air leaks.
