I agree with CrappiePro. Speaking as someone who moved to the state a couple years ago, this site is valueable in helping someone new to the area get up to speed. I have fished Caney and Gold just about every Saturday for the last month and have had no problem getting limits every trip regardless of the number of boats. What I have observed in my 25 plus years of fishing is the guy usually complaining about the crowds is the one that doesnt show up until 9am, fishs for 30 minutes and then leaves after not catching anything. I can only fish on the weekends, want to catch fish, therefore have learned to deal with the crowds.
Small Place to Fish? Gold creek is a at least two miles long from the I 40 bridge to the concrete bridge way up the creek there is several large flat areas, creek channel ledges, grass pads, bridges, under water stumps, submerged stumps, Laydowns, Docks, brush along the way and several bridges to fish. And im not even talking about the large pool or small pool. One of the biggest mistakes folks make is heading straight for the pool area and not trying all the water inbetween Dano's and the pool. The flats can be fantastic fishing, fishing shallow casting a jig and bobber. Also another mistake is not fishing at night. It can be just as good or better than the day time as I tried to show you all a few posts ago. Also Gold Creek is not the only place to catch a crappie on Lake Conway. Lil Confused on just how much water you need?
I just have to ask,,if everyone took the position of "lets not post about our success today", what would be the use of having a fine site like crappie.com. Part of fishing,,a large part in my always humble opinion, is shareing your success with others, knowing that they will get some pleasure out of catching fish too. The thing that makes fishing so enjoyable to me is in fishing,,a compatable partner enhances the enjoyment of the act of fishing itself..The laughter of missed strikes,,lost fish,, whatever,, increases with a good friend in the boat,,or on the bank..thats my 2 cents worth...
Yes I agree that when over publising fishing holes does cause problems not only for the fishermen/fisherwomen, but also for the fish. Yes crappiepro over publisizes the holes where he fishes and he does it for reasons. He works during the early week and don't care about the other fishermen. It's clearly stated in his message. I have fished Conway for over 28 plus, yes and it's never been this bad. I have had my boat flipped with two kids in it because of people who think that that is the only place they to fish and they need to hurry up and get their. But I'm sorry when u go fishing it suppose to be for fun, not for everybody else over ur twenty limit. Sorry for not sugar coating it but that's the truth. It sucks having to fish everywhere else instead of being able to fish where u like because of inconciderate people. Thanks for over publisizing places. Besides have anybody thought of fishing the trees at the a frame cove around the trees or the tree and fencing around the dam.
And conferring to the post earlier it's pretty bad when a person tries to take their kids like myself to places I grew up fishing. I'm sorry other peoe get their jollies by telling everyfish they catch, but that is not the purpose of the forum. It's to share different lakes, what to try, and maybe how deep to fish. But not and I repeat not to put them in the live well for them. Their again how can we bring our kids up liking what we liked when they or anybody else can't enjoy what they r doing because of over publisizing!!!!!!!!!
Big slabs, the only place on Conway that I am aware of that has a a-frame house in the cove, is at 3 creeks directly across the lake from Lawrence landing, are these cypress trees, the trees you are referring to, is there anything special in this area that will cause fish to hold in this area. I know the Shad are there, but is there any structure there other than cypress trees that holds fish. Is there any brush or other structures there. I know there is three creeks in this area hence the name three creeks. These are main lake creeks, I have heard that the crappie, or at least the big crappie have stayed out in the main lake this year, I can only imagine why, with all the boats up in the feeder creeks. I have heard this is a hot spot not only in the fall and winter but also in the spring and summer also.
