    Default It was heavenly today.

Xring's boat is in the shop today so I called and invited him to fish with me today and naturally he agreed to go. I picked him up about 9:30 so it would warm up a little, drove over to Lake Dardanelle and launched the boat. It was clear and sunny and cold but no wind. The water was calm and clear. We didnt even have to use the yamaha we were so close to the fishing hole, just the trolling motor. We tossed out a couple bouys and dropped our jigs in and it was a steady bite. I had tied a few jigs the night before and wanted to try a new color.(shown below) Me and that little Goblin bait was putting it on Xring pretty heavy. He was needing a lesson after he put it on me yesterday. We saw a couple old guys fishing nearby and was not having any luck at all so we moved over by them and showed them how we were doing it then we marked one of our good places and told them to pull in there and work it over. After a bit they were yanking um in with a smile you could see a city block. We had two limits of mostly 11-12 inch fish. I gave my neighbors several of them before I took the picture of xring filleting the rest. I am posting a pic of the colors that are working well for us here. It was a gorgeous, perfect day.
The goblin is bright orange head, black body and white marabou tail.

It is with deep regret that I pen these lines, I made fun,,yep,,laughed about the "goblin" begged rtark not to put it in the water, I was afraid it'd scare every crappie in a mile plum outta lake Dardanelle. Its strange how ones perception of things can change in a relatively short period of time, after rtark had put 7 or 8 in the ice chest,,and I was still waiting on a hit...I,,in most gracious maner remarked about the effectiviness of that lovely hand tied masterpiece. I may have hurt his feeling earlier when a boat passed and I asked him to keep that THING in the water, I didn't want embarrassed......
But sometime later, rtark,,being the gentleman he is, offered me the use of a "goblin" for the paultry sum of $20.00 and a promise to be included in my will....which I gladly accepted...lol
Then,,and only then did I begin to harvest crappie...and lordy,,did we catch'm, me'n my buddy rtark!!!

He did put a severe whipping on me today...but he started with the goblin, I got one after he filled his limit...and had raped the brushpiles we were fishing..

    Thanks ole buddy...

I hate it you were having to work today, but someone has to work and pay taxes so that I get my SS check and keep the crappie population in check. Thanks TAV
