There is no way I'm gonna write down how much I spend crappie fishing,Thumbs Up the wife might see it.Doh
This is by no means a scientific analysis. I got the 81% from a google search. 1 lb fish gave 13 oz of fillet and 3 oz of discard. I thought it sounded high too, but I have never done the comparison myself. And the guy in the post claimed to have taken several measurements. Nonetheless, if I change the fillet assumption to 33%, that ups the cost to $8.20/lb of fillets with all else being equal. Still well worth the cost I'd say!
Hmmm, Maybe I'm looking at this wrong. I fish for a hobby and the Doc. said I would live longer. If God made anything better than Hunting and Fishing, he must have kept it for himself. I've met some great people fishing. I'm not even going to attempt to put a pencil to it. I love it and am still doing it, so it must be worth it. As long as wife don't question it, I'm sure not going to. Can't wait until I can become full time fisherman. 15 months or less.
I almost always come out of Sports Academy or Dicks Sporting goods with some kind of lure or jig that l've read about in some article...
My girlfriend bought one of those tackle boxes with the cheap lures included. One of them is a nasty looking sky blue swim bait that I would have thrown straight into the trash.
She"s used it to catch 3 big bass (one of them the biggest she's ever caught) so far...
