We give away lots of fish also. However let me point out something that many folks don't think about when giving away fish. This post reminded me of an incident which happened five years ago. My son (blue thunder) was snagging catfish at Pendleton one day and struck up a conversation with a very nice elderly black gentleman who was unable to fish but liked to watch. The gentleman asked David if he could have one of the cats he was catching for his supper that night. David kindly obliged with four nice catfish what ran about 5-6 lbs each and even gave him a stringer to put them on and tied it to a rock. Within five minutes David felt someone tapping him on the shoulder and turned around to see the local game warden. David tried to strike up a friendly conversation but the game warden was more interested in whether David had actually in fact given that older guy "those fish on that other stringer". David said he sure did and that he was glad he could help the old fellow out with a few fish. The next question was whether or not David had given the guy "written permission" to have those fish! David stated "I didn't know I was supposed to". Well, Mr. Greenjeans gave both David AND the older man tickets for the incident. It cost David $225. and I am sure the same amount for the older guy. That was around five years ago and David was so embarassed by the incident he wouldn't tell me about it and I had to find out six months later by accident. That left a bad taste in his mouth and as far as I know that was the last time he ever went snagging at Pendleton Lock and Dam. It used to be one of his favorite things to do and I wondered for six months why he wouldn't go snagging any more (he even had an electric reel on one of his Fenwick snagging rods). Rest assurred that if an Arkansas Game and Fish officer witnessed you giving those sweet little old ladies those fish there would have been three tickets written if those ladies could not produce the written documentation proving lawful ownership of those fish! We live in a great state and a wonderful paradise of fishing and hunting but know also that we have a bunch of agfc busybodies just waiting to write any ticket they can any way they can. Those folks don't make judgement calls....it's ALL about the tickets and getting our Money! It left a bad taste in my mouth also and to this day I do what is required to be within the game and fish laws and no more.
