Size: 92.0 KB Fin-ly, got to go back to Nimrod today. Got to the lake about 6:45 and fished same place as last time. The Crappie were not as hot as last weekend so I thru out a few Noodles and caught 9 Cats. Thought I was doing good catchin some 3 & 4 pounds cats until a boat came by and said he was doing the same but when I showed him the ones I caught....he said those were little compaired to the big ones he caught on the south shore just across the lake. Ended up catching 9 cats and 9 crappies. More than enough for me to have a good fish fry.

After I cleaned them I had to look twice to make sure they weren't Turkey's... They were full of corn... Must be a under water garden growing down thar with some nice big fat corn stalks. I checked real good and found no feathers so I concluded they really were catfish

Then somewhere close to where you caught them is a chum hole. I found one in the water shed lakes in Perry county a few years ago. Every catfish in this clearing of standing timber was gorged with corn. I was fishing minnows cut in half in 15 fow, fishing a slip bobber about 8' down. That bobber might have stayed above water ten seconds twice. We caught 30+ catfish before we ran out of minnows. Don't know who's hole it was, but we fished it several times over the years and it was constantly a hot hole and we never bumped into anyone even close to it.

No need to mess with noodles, you can load the boat down most days with a rod. We been Catfishing last 3 weeks I guess. Crappie fishing has been good but most are on the small side. Looks you found plenty of fish for a big fish fry .

I was over there on Saturday morning. Had an OK day, 501mooney87 said they were much slower than they had been the week before. I wasn't too sure until the lock-jaw set in at about 8:00am. Up till then, we were catching several dinks, and a few "keepers". We tried most every color in the box, tipped and untipped with minners. Color didn't seem to matter all that much, as long as Chartruse was in there, and it was slow. But once again, size was difficult to locate on Saturday.

The Crappie were slower Sat. , I kept about 18 and tossed back a bunch. Bit better early in the morning. I quit about 10.30 am cause of wind. Used pink/white and purple/chartruse umbrellas on 1/8 oz leadheads jigged over condos. But Friday even the Catfish were slower, took longer to limit out. Hopefully the Catfish are hungry cause Ski Trip and I are going in the morning again on my baited holes.

Chartruse beatle spin is the only thing today I could get them to bite. Last week it was white or chartruse... didn't matter. Glad I took some floaters today. cats are no where as good as crappie..... but thats what a fish fry is for.
