you know what today. We didn't really know exactly where to launch and got in the water much later than we wanted. Launched at Brannon's Landing and couldn't find any water more than 3-4 ft deep. Couldn't see or find any boating lanes for a long time. Finally worked our way to Gold Creek and Dan helped us out a great deal. Bought a map, headed out from there and fished Gold Creek, Gold Lake, and Adams Lake. Put 3 small keepers in the live well and missed two good ones late in the morning.
The long trek back to Brannons was hot and miserable. Some of the boat lane is not marked or marked well.
Icing on the cake was bending the *(&^ out of the trolling motor on a stump. We are at the hotel in Conway trying to find someone with a vice who will try to straighten it back out. It still runs but is hard to turn.
Day 2 of this year's 3 day trip has been much like day 1....pure crap!
Somebody tell me what we did wrong on Conway today?
We fished jigs, jigs tipped w minnows, minnows all around great looking cypress in 6-12 ft of water and pretty much got skunked.
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

Just a suggestion, but you mentioned you had a map, find on your map Lawrence landing, when you do go out in front of Lawrence landing and fish the green cypress trees, cover alot of trees and head south right down the middle of the lake fishing cypress trees. Also look for Adams lake landing on your map and fish the cypress trees from Adams lake landing up to Canterbury cove fishing mostly 150 to 200 yards of the shore line on the green cypress trees,
You can't beat the taste of them ole fried SLABS N TATERS!!

Thanks guys for the help, but we never really found them. We tried all of the techs mentioned on here to the letter, but just couldn't seem to do any good. Fri. we fished from 5:45-10:30 before it got real hot and then headed back to Jonesboro. We definitely found plenty of trees in the 7-11 ft range and fished all depths around them. Our best crappie both days came off tree tops sunk n the lake instead of cypress. We kept 4 on Thurs. and 5 Fri.
Got to meet Dan at Gold Creek, which was nice. First CDCer I've met since joining the site.
Thanks again for all the help and info.
