i was surprised at how many alligator snapping turtles this river here has in it. i was with a man once that was running his nets and in 3 nets he had caught 9 of them up to probably 50 lbs. he said it was common to catch them in the nets. and i caught one once on a trot line in greers ferry lake. you could get a soft ball in it's mouth. i got it in the boat and tied it up with a rope. it had it's mouth open and i stuck my paddle in it's mouth and it split the paddle. i tied it out at the camp ground and my brother turned it loose. i hope it's still living and that was back in the 60's.
