Not sure about the area you plan on going to, but Horseshoe (Hughes) and Bear Creek (Marianna) is within 2 hours of Jonesboro. Also poinsett lake. Bear creek has a motor restriction (9.9 or less)

I am very excited to come home to AR for my annual 3-day fishing trip with dad. We are concerned though bc of the water situation. Our plan was to stay in a cabin at Maddox Bay and fish refuge lakes. I am not sure but suppose it is possible that the cabins are flooded and I am sure the bay and lakes are flooded bad? Anyone know for sure? Also, if the water is high but not falling/rising fast and not very muddy would it still be worth fishing this water?
If the answer to that last question is NO, please give some direction as to lakes within 2 hrs of Jonesboro that we could find stable water to fish.
Thanks for any responses. We are going to make the best of our three days and fish wherever we can.

no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

You will for sure need to find another location, cabins are without a doubt flooded... here are a couple of pictures from last weekend at Maddox Bay and the crossroads (posted on another forum)

Don't think I'd stay in those cabins. I'd head to Horseshoe, Bear Creek, or maybe one of the lakes in Village Creek Park.
go to VRBOŽ is Vacation Rentals By Owner and click on ark state and then on horseshoo and look at the places there to rent right on the water. not cheap but looks nice for an outing. and no i am not spaming those places. i got that site off the miss board i think. maybe here.
Lower Monroe County is a disaster and won't be anywhere near recovered by the time of your trip. Peckerwood has filled back up and should be good by then. Hope y'all tear em up!
Thanks TAV2; well the flooding certainly makes our choice of where to fish easier.

Pretty sure I know the answer to this ? but would love to confirm it and see any pics like above; what are the lakes off the Black River like in NE AR right now? Can you even discern them from the sea of water?
