Yes, apparently water is coming around from the levee breaks north of there. We're doing the widening at Portia, and we have some people up there to do what will need to be done. Lots of RR washed out.

i was wondering if it was washing any of the tracks out as fast as the water is moving. do you have any idea when they will widen the highway here through the hills from blackrock on west? and have you heard what side of the bridge the new one will be built? this may ruin some farmers and just when the prices got to where they can make some money too.
The new bridge will be downstream of the old bridge, I believe. Probably looking 5 yrs out. They just found the old bridge structurally deficient and lowered the weight limit. There's a big track crew waiting for the water to go down---imagine there are lots of trains stacked up right now. A lot of farmers have really been hit a big lick from this---really feel for them.
a real estate man told me a couple of years ago he figured they would go south of the bridge and on south of imboden to miss building another bridge over spring river. and yes, i knew of the bridge problem. i live over near raventown. kinda makes me wonder about even crossing the bridge now. it's the same design of the one that fell in up north a few years ago. if they do what the real estate man said they would have to go on up and south of mamoth springs before coming back into 412 with the 4 lane and that's a long way off.
The bridge and approach are estimated at 50M and scheduled to be let in 2013. My folks tell me the water is over about 3000 ft of roadway near the 412 intersection. Not much to do till the water goes down.
Had a buddy get stuck on the North side this morning as of 2pm they were all the way south to Bald Knob trying to get on the right side of the river. Guess were not going turkey hunting in the morning.
When it washed under the tracks north of portia few days ago they were dumping big rocks trying to get it fixed. Before it started washing under the tracks south of portia a train came though going toward hoxie.Heard it was trapped back down the tracks for awhile,a few more days they could have lost a train.Heck man I live around here and have heard anything from whales going up black river to icebirds floating down river. It's bad and will cost in the millions but don't believe everything you hear.Yes,they are the having to route to bald knob to get back on 63,looonnny waaaayyyy around for those that live in black rock.
talked to a deputy this morning and he said some of the hwy 63 had washed out. kait8 said it would be monday or longer before it's opened again.
