Just curious if anyone's been hitting the backwaters of the Maumelle or LR pools for crappie lately. Gas has gotten to the point that I'm stuck to Lake Maumelle or the river for my fishing. Never messed with crappie at either place, but some of the stuff in the back of the Little Maumelle and Maumelle Rivers always looked nice while I was bass fishing.

I here that they are catching a few pulling cranks baits on the lake right now.
Would think that dipping a minnow or a jig on little maumelle would do some good too. Have done well in the past when the river was moving. I don't even know what the river is doing now.

Friend of mine lives in the heights says he is catching crappie in the backwaters close to his house.

I'll be trying for crappie all weekend on the river. I'm camping at maumelle park next to yacht club Marina. I'll post if I do any good. Or come visit!
I'm running lines out of Maumelle Park right now. Been there just about every night from 6pm or so till around midnight for the last few months. I'm the gray Ford with the big flat bottom with the Yahama on the back. Little windy last night wasn't it? I got out not long before it all started.
Suppose to be a steady 25+ wind tonight. Kinda thinking about waiting till tomorrow to bait with the wind like it is.
I'm in A section with the flatbottom/9.8 mercury.
It's really hit or miss but below the big Dam bridge on the nlr side can produce some
I caught 8 keepers Monday but haven't caught anything but white bass since then
