Stayed in a family friends cabin in Ouachita off of 314, south of Nimrod. Met some really nice folks down there and really had a good time, except a few "sorry we took your coach" comments in good fun.
Fishing Ouachita last Thursday before the rain, not even a nibble. Went to the main part of Nimrod in the afternoon and pulled in a couple dinks before more rain. Second day we put in up in the river and caught a decent mess of blue gill, but no slabs. Went to Blue Mountain that afternoon and that is a beautiful lake, but no luck.
So Saturday the weather was great and ended up with 23 keepers, and I pulled in one of the biggest slabs I've caught, almost 15". This was in about the same place that we were catching the dinks in that bigger cove on the South side of the lake. 10' of water seemed to be the key.
Beautiful area down there and had a great trip despite the slow fishing. Met some really nice folks there at Emersons and Fowlers.
