    Question Horseshoe ? Any reports?

My youngest son is home for spring break, and we are looking at trying to get into some fish. Anyone have a report on Horseshoe, and, if so and it's good, how deep, on what, and in what kind of cover are you catching them? Thanks.

Ive been trying to get down there but the wind has been brutal. A friend went sunday and caught a mess shallow, with alot of color on them, almost all blacks (specks)
Crappie are snobby..... Why can't they be easy to catch...Like bass?

Went yesterday....threw everything I had at em...(didn't use live bait). Only made it home with 5. Caught a bunch of dinks. Fished the trees and Piers. Tried shallow and deep. Fished 3 Fow to 13 Fow. The only fish I caught (1 female was 15 1/4 )worth keeping was in 8 to 10 FOW. Full of eggs and hardly any blood and/or vein showing. AND THE WIND WAS HORRIBLE!

Looks like it's really going to be bad today and tomorrow as well. Thanks for the report.

I got a report that they had been biting well around Holly Grove, but that they shut down yesterday morning.

Blair, I saw that the forecast has changed to about a 40% chance of rain now. I am reconsidering. How cold is it supposed to get there tonight (Holly Grove)?

Never fished Horseshoe so this may be a dumb question but is it not affected by the Mississippi being so high? I guess I assumed it was since Midway is.

No, it has the levee between it and the river.

Does no vein and no blood mean they are ready to lay em down or they are "new"?

I will sure be glad when we get some warm days and nights and the wind lays down a bit!

Thank you for your repots hawgdog, great info.

I am definetly no expert, but I have been told when they are close, the egg sack will enlarge as well as the individual eggs and you'll see a lot more red blood lines/veins running thru the sack. When they're real close, the individual eggs start to separate in the sack and don't cling together.
