First of all I have never been to hinkle but I have been told that there is a lot of stumps in it and it is a good fishing lake, and today at the coffee shop we was talking about lakes and an old timer that gets around told me that the crappie was good but the bream was great!

Until about a year ago I lived close to Hinkle. Great crappie fishing! Try around the drain by the dam. It is always good for a few nice blacks. This time of year troll up to it and cast from a distance. I have never been there and not caught fish. January and February were alway my best time there. The water is around 55' at normal pool and I would catch them from @ 40' in the winter to up on the surface in the warmer month. That was my honey hole when I was up there. Good Luck!

By the way there are lots of stumps in deep water. it's not uncommon to hit one in 30+ fow, so be careful.

Lots of stumps so idle or troll when you go! Nieghbor went yesterday they were slow. In a few weeks when the water temp picks up should be hot! Western side of the lake a line of trees I have done well on. Good luck!
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!

Hinkle is about 5 feet below full pool at this time. They have been putting in a new boat ramp at the dam. You can really see the snags right now. It should be good when the weather clears some.
